Proctology

Hemorrhoid treatment in Constanța

Hemorrhoidal disease is the reason most people end up seeing a proctologist, and it is also the reason many put it off for years. At NOVOMED CLINIC, a proctology consultation with anoscopy costs 400 lei, and rubber band ligation costs 900 lei per session. You do not need to be admitted to hospital and you do not need a referral.

Signs that bring you to the doctor

  • bright red blood in the stool, on the toilet paper or in the toilet bowl
  • itching, burning or a feeling that something is there
  • a swelling that comes out when you strain and goes back in, or that stays out
  • sudden, intense pain with a hard lump at the anus

Bleeding does not automatically mean hemorrhoids. This is exactly why anoscopy is done: so that one problem is not treated while another is missed.

Grades of hemorrhoidal disease

Grade What happens What can be done
I internal hemorrhoids that do not come out, but bleed conservative treatment, banding
II come out when straining and go back in on their own banding
III come out and have to be pushed back in by hand banding in successive sessions, sometimes surgery
IV stay out permanently surgery in hospital

The grade is set at the consultation, not from photos on the internet.

What we do at NOVOMED CLINIC

  • Proctology consultation with anoscopy, 400 lei. A complete examination with a view of the anal canal.
  • Hemorrhoid banding (rubber band ligation), 900 lei per session. An in-office procedure, with no hospital stay.
  • Hemorrhoidal thrombectomy, 900 lei, for a thrombosed external hemorrhoid, the one that suddenly hurts a lot. It is done in the consulting room in suitable cases; the doctor decides at the consultation.
  • Perianal abscess incision, 1,200 lei, for superficial abscesses. Deep abscesses need surgery in hospital and patients are referred there.

For grade IV, or for situations that need an operating room, the doctor tells you directly and refers you. We do not band what needs surgery.

How banding works

Through an anoscope, the doctor places a rubber band at the base of the internal hemorrhoid. The band cuts off the blood supply to the hemorrhoid, which dries up and falls off on its own within a few days. The procedure takes a few minutes and does not need general anesthesia. You go home straight away.

Afterwards you may feel pressure or as if something is there for a few days, and some discomfort when you have a bowel movement. The doctor tells you what to take and what to watch out for. If there are several hemorrhoids, the doctor decides at the consultation whether they can be treated in one session or in successive sessions.

Frequently asked questions

Does the consultation hurt? Anoscopy is uncomfortable, not painful. It takes less than a minute.

Does banding hurt? The band is placed above the area with pain-sensitive nerve endings, which is why the procedure is well tolerated. The discomfort afterwards is usually manageable.

Can I go to work the next day? Usually yes, if your work does not involve heavy physical effort.

How many sessions will I need? It depends on how many hemorrhoids there are and on their grade. The doctor tells you at the consultation.

Do hemorrhoids come back? They can come back if the causes remain: constipation, sitting for long periods, straining. The treatment deals with the hemorrhoids; the rest depends on your habits.

Can my partner come into the consulting room with me? Yes, if that makes it easier for you.
