If you have swollen veins, heavy legs in the evening or visible veins that keep multiplying, the first step is not looking for an operation. It is finding out what is happening in your veins. At NOVOMED CLINIC this means a vascular surgery consultation with a senior specialist and, when needed, a Doppler ultrasound done on the spot, in the same visit.
What we do here
- Vascular surgery consultation, 400 lei. Examination, assessment of your symptoms, treatment plan.
- Venous and arterial Doppler ultrasound, 600 lei for one leg, 800 lei for both. Painless, with no radiation, with the result on the spot. It is done as part of the consultation.
- Sclerotherapy, 900 lei per session for one leg with one vial, 1,100 lei with two vials, consultation included. Details on the sclerotherapy page.
- Conservative treatment and follow-up: compression advice, venotonic medication when indicated, check-ups at intervals set by the doctor.
What we do not do here
We do not do classic varicose vein surgery, nor laser or radiofrequency ablation. If the ultrasound shows that you need one of these, you are told at the consultation and referred to a service that does it. It is better to leave with a correct answer than with a procedure that does not treat the cause.
Where to start
For small, visible veins with no other symptoms: a consultation and, if indicated, sclerotherapy on the same day.
For legs that swell, hurt or have skin changes: a consultation with Doppler ultrasound, because the problem may be deeper than what you can see.

When not to put it off
See a doctor if you have sudden pain and swelling in one calf only, if the skin around your ankle has darkened or hardened, or if you have a wound that does not heal. These are situations where waiting costs you.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a referral? No.
Can I have the Doppler ultrasound on its own, without a consultation? No. It is done as part of the vascular surgery consultation, because the result is interpreted together with the examination.
How long does a visit take? The consultation with Doppler usually takes 30 to 45 minutes.
